Unseen

A seated woman, bare and still, her face hidden beneath a draped cloth. By covering her identity, the work speaks not about one woman but about what it means to be a woman: to be seen as a role, yet to quietly hold yourself together from within.

I made her without showing her face. The cloth over her head hides who she is, and that was the point. We rarely see a woman as one single person. We tend to see a role, an expectation, a body that others feel they have the right to name. So I covered the face and left the body bare and quiet, sitting with her hands folded, holding herself. Simone de Beauvoir said that no one is simply born a woman, that it is something you slowly become under everyone's eyes and demands. I wanted that weight to be felt in the stillness of her posture. And because the face is hidden, she could be anyone you know, anyone you love, or even you, in a moment of being completely yourself.

Works are produced through a professional fine-art print workflow using archival materials and gallery-quality output. Production begins after the order is confirmed.
