Regeneration

This artwork captures the silent struggle of facing our past. The branches represent the heavy emotional roots and memories we carry, while the axe marks the exact moment we decide to break free. Inspired by Carl Jung’s insights on the unconscious mind, it explores the painful yet necessary choice to leave an old story behind in order to move forward.

There is a quiet struggle in this piece. The branches growing from my back are not just nature; they are the heavy roots of past habits, old fears, and memory. For a long time, I carried them everywhere. The axe in the stump represents that sharp, sudden moment of decision, which is the choice to stop running and finally cut ties with what holds me back. The psychoanalyst Carl Jung once said that until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. This figure is doing exactly that by turning around to face the roots. It is a painful process to detach from a part of yourself, but sometimes, you have to leave a piece of your old story behind in the wood just to be able to take your next step forward.
